Frequently Asked Questions
When should I deploy Cliff Stabilizers?
The Cliff Stabilizers can be installed any time of the year to lock down eroding sediments. The plant can be installed into the devices right away, or they can be installed afterwards from early to late Spring, or from late Summer to Early Winter.
What plants should I use to stabilize once my Cliff Stabilizers are deployed? And where can I buy them?
We have collaborated with the USDA to create native plant species mixes of over two dozen plants adapted to grow on and stabilize coastal bluffs and shores. CTC can recommend plant nurseries that provide high quality and value plant materials for coastal restoration projects. (provide links)
How many Cliff Stabilizers will I need?
This depends on the bluff conditions and if any parts have stabilizing vegetation already present. Generally speaking, a bare, 10,000 sq foot area will require approx 2,950 devices.
How long does it take to install them?
Very quickly as they simply “screw” into the ground using a screw-gun or hand wrench. A 10,000 foot area can be installed in a few days.
What about my neighbors?
Once your bluff is reforested, your neighbors’ bluff conditions are less able to affect yours, but having an extended length of stabilized bluff coast helps everyone.
How soon after installation will my cliff be protected?
One deployed, the Cliff Stabilizers will instantly mitigate erosive forces. The plant’s stabilizing roots systems will securely extend into the slope after approximately 18 months.
