Protecting coasts from coastal erosion
COASTAL has engineered groundbreaking technology to protect vulnerable wetlands in the face of rising sea levels and increasing storm damage.
Fifteen feet of wetland—
—can absorb up to 50% of storm surge.
COASTAL’s engineering mimics how plants have evolved over 500 million years to control their environment. Flexible shafts and protrusions mimic stems and leaves to disrupt and absorb wave and wind forces. The coil technology “roots” each device securely, and is simple to install, remove, and reinstall.
This core design extends to serve a diverse array of coastal protection use cases.
It’s simple physics!
CTC units cannot be uprooted. They cannot be broken down by wave or wind.
The action of one unit is modest, but when deployed together, even storm-grade waves are tamed.
Marshguards absorb wave energy and protect shorelines, allowing sediment to gather in places where it would otherwise be stripped away. They also provide habitat for the innumerable wetland organisms.
